Las Vegas rewind.
Early Sunday morning, Jimi the Bolivian & I headed to a stop over in Tulsa, on the first leg of our trip. At Tulsa, we were delayed about an hour. On the way to Vegas, I sat next to a guy who was an alum of Mizzou & we had a nice conversation. I had a good conversation with a lady on the flight to Tulsa, and I always wonder if I'm "that guy." You know, the guy who talks too much on the plane.
We got to Vegas a little late, so we checked in & headed stright to the Mandalay Bay to set up for the show. At first, we were supposed to stay at Mandaly, but we switched to the Hooter's Hotel so that we could have our own rooms. We finished setting up just in time & headed back to Hooter's for a quick nap, before we hit the strip.
After a nap & a shower, we went to a nearby place for a comedy show. I laughed & it was cheap. After the show, we hit the strip to experience what so mnay have always talked about. I was warned about the Mexicans, who flick cards of women they're trying to sell. Out of curiosity, I grabbed a some lit from one of the guys & it stated that they could have a girl to your room in 30 minutes or less. I wondered if it was like how Dominos used to be & if they were late, you got the girl for free.
We did a lot of walking & it made us a little hungry. Believe it or not, it was hard for us to find a good place to eat. We settled on a place that cared more about being hip, than serving good food.
The first day of the show kicked off at 9am & the excitement was unbearable. A show dedicated to nuts, bolts, & all types of fasteners is undescribable. We made friends with the guys & a lady at the booth to our left. She was from Vegas & the guys were from Toledo. Not much happened on Monday, other than we got our pictures taken to be placed in a magazine.
We got cleaned up again & headed out for dinner. This time, we went to the MGM & found an upscale Mexican place called Diego's. Very tasty! I was tired & sore from standing for 8 hours at the show, so I was ready for an early night. Before we got to our hotel, we saw a guy with a stalled truck in the middle of the road. I asked him if he needed help, and we ran over & pushed him out of the street. He was a real life cowboy in town for the bull riding convention.
On my way to my room, I stopped to play some blackjack. I had to, so I could say that I gambled in Vegas. I played four hands & walked away even.
The Tuesday show was much better. It was more laid back & everybody pretty much walked around getting free junk. I got my baby a teddy bear & before you know it, I'm running around getting more for complete strangers. I'm too nice.
Before we headed to the airport, we had dinner at Rum Jungle, which was pretty decent. While there, some early election returns were coming in. It was weird not watching that crap at home. Six or so hours later, we arrived back in STL to see that Obama would be our new president. Not long after, I went to the bathroom & hurled. ;)
